It always amused me as a kid how Ken was just Ryu with long hair in those old games.

I recall getting this game even though I was never into Final Fantasy as many of my high school classmates had it and I wanted to give it a try. It had its perks, but was quite difficult, I never completed it, and grew out of FF.
